In 2007, Boyd Gaming sold a significant stake in The Stardust name as well as its real estate to MGM Resorts International for $600 million. This transaction effectively paved the way for The Echelon Place’s subsequent development into The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The Stardust closed down permanently on November 1st, 2006.
